Because nothing builds language skills like immersion in another culture, SUNY Cortland offers study abroad opportunities in many Spanish-speaking countries. Your degree will give you a solid foundation for a career in international business or other professions.

Career Potential

Business: International trade, bilingual consultant, translator, customer support agent

Government: Diplomat, FBI agent, National Security Agency, Border Patrol, immigration agent, government or court translator

Writing: Newspapers, trade publications, book publishers, bilingual translator for websites, proofreader, writer, editor

Tourism and hospitality: Interpreter, guide, bilingual travel agent, study abroad coordinator or director

Education: Teaching in private schools or in the private sector, pursue master’s and/or doctoral degrees to become a college professor
