UNDER THE BALCONY: Agitation - Dan Emerson, BFA Exhibition
December 3-December 11, 2015
“I channel a negative emotional experience from specific events in my life and then use the resulting agitation as a catalyst for my work. By creating tension in my artwork through color, texture, planned design and instinctual painting, I attempt to persuade my audience to share this experience. I further convey these negative reactions through ambiguous characterizations and the manipulation of perspective and form. The resulting viscera of oil paint creates a kind of relief sculpture for the viewer.”
