Renovated SUNY Cortland College Store Opens
The Auxiliary Services Corporation of SUNY Cortland (ASC) will celebrate the grand opening of its newly remodeled College Store in Neubig Hall on Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26. The revamped facility took several years of planning and six weeks of actual construction.

Biologist Theresa Curtis Developing Rapid Water Testing Kit for U.S. Army
SUNY Cortland biologist Theresa M. Curtis cultivates animal cells in laboratory dishes as she studies better ways to ensure the safety of water supplies. Curtis and other researchers across the country are developing new ways to test drinking water for poisons, whether natural or made by terrorists, with support from the U.S. Army Center for Environmental Health Research. They’re all looking for “the canary in the coal mine.”
Amy Berg to Direct Information Resources at SUNY Cortland
Amy Berg, director of information technology operations at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, has been appointed associate provost for information resources at SUNY Cortland, effective on Aug. 10.
SUNY Cortland Names School of Education Interim Dean
John Cottone, SUNY Cortland’s interim dean of the School of Professional Studies, will also serve as interim dean of the College’s School of Education, effective Aug. 1.
Pierre Gagnon to Lead Auxiliary Services Corporation at SUNY Cortland
Pierre R. Gagnon of Clayton, N.Y., joined the Auxiliary Services Corporation (ASC) at SUNY Cortland on June 29, the organization announced. Gagnon previously served as executive director of the Faculty Student Association of Jefferson Community College.
SUNY Cortland Makes Chronicle of Higher Education ‘Great Colleges’ List
The Chronicle of Higher Education has recognized SUNY Cortland among its “2009’s Great Colleges to Work For.” Among the 247 colleges, universities and community colleges surveyed by the Chronicle, SUNY Cortland was acknowledged for its strength in the category of post-retirement benefits.

Nearly 600 SUNY Cortland alumni and friends are expected to enjoy class get-togethers, parties and other activities on campus during the College's 2009 Alumni Reunion Weekend from July 16-19.
Patricia Wright Retires from the College
Patricia Wright, who served SUNY Cortland for 30 years, retired on Jan. 22. She has been designated senior staff assistant emerita.
