Simon Brandon-Lai

Simon Brandon-Lai, Sport Management Department, co-authored an article, “Organizational Impression Congruence: A Conceptual Model of Multi-level Impression Management Operation in Sport Service Organizations,” that was published in Sport Management Review. In the paper, the authors addressed ways in which images projected by actors at different organizational levels combine to produce in/coherent consumer impressions. Conceptual links between these impressions and related outcomes (e.g., consumer trust, psychological connection, and re-patronage intentions) are discussed.

Noelle Chaddock Paley

Noelle Chaddock Paley, Multicultural Life and Diversity Office and Africana Studies Department gave a talk titled “On Being a Black Woman” at Mohawk Valley Community College for their Fall 2014 Cultural Series. The talk took place on both the Utica and Rome campuses.

Lynn Couturier MacDonald

Lynn Couturier MacDonald, Physical Education Department chair, announced that the department hosted its annual conference in collaboration with The New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYS AHPERD) Central North Zone on Jan. 30. More than 180 physical education and health teachers from the local area attended 29 different presentations. The conference was organized with the help of nearly 50 students in the Alliance for Physical Education Majors Club.

Seth N. Asumah

Seth N. Asumah, Africana Studies and Political Science departments, is the author of a book chapter, “African Cultures, Modernization and Development: Re-examining the Effects of Globalization.” It will be included in a new book, Globalization and the African Experience, edited by Emmanuel M. Mbah and Steven J. Salm, to be published in 2012 by Carolina Academic Press.

Nance S. Wilson

Nance S. Wilson, Literacy Department, had a book chapter titled “Teacher Development, Support, and Training with the iPad” published in Advancing Higher Education with Mobile Learning Technology: Cases, Trends, and Inquiry Based Methods, edited by S. Keengwe and M. Maxfield. It was co-authored by Vicky Zygouris-Coe and Victoria Cardullo.

Mark Dodds

Mark Dodds, Sport Management Department, recently delivered sport business corruption presentations at the European Association for Sport Management (EASM) conference, the National Sports Law Institute fall symposium, and the International Sports Business symposium. Dodds also served as the sport law conference chair at EASM, and was a panel chair for a discussion on sport law post-Covid 19 panel. Also, he co-authored a paper on the prevention of ambush marketing from a social ambush evolution at the Sport Marketing Association conference. 

Susan Peterson

Susan Peterson, Modern Languages Department, had her article, “Race, Labor and the Economic Possibilities of Women in Colonial Latin America,” published in the Winter 2011 edition of the Journal of Intercultural Disciplines. The National Association of Hispanic and Latino Studies publishes the journal.  

Seth N. Asumah

Seth N. Asumah, Africana Studies and Political Science departments, received a merit-based high ranking and appointment from the New York State Public High Schools Athletics Association (NYSPHSAA) and served as a referee for the 2017 New York State Boys Soccer Championships held Nov. 10 to 12 at Middletown, N.Y. Also, Asumah officiated the 2017 Boys Regional Soccer Championships held Nov. 4 in Oneonta, N.Y. As a member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA), and the MidState Board of Approved Officials (MidBAO), Asumah has officiated many international, national and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Final Four Soccer Championships.

Brett Troyan

Brett Troyan, History Department, is on sabbatical for the spring semester. She was appointed a visiting scholar to Cambridge University’s Latin American Studies Center in the United Kingdom where she is working on a book manuscript on Costa Rica’s brief civil war. 

Thomas Hischak

Thomas Hischak, professor emeritus of theatre, had his non-fiction book, Musicals in Film: A Guide to the Genre, published by ABC-CLIO, Santa Barbara, Calif.
