Welcome Week Activities Continue Through Sept. 7
Welcome Week at SUNY Cortland will offer a number of events through Tuesday, Sept. 7. The activities, which are free unless otherwise noted, will help new students connect with the campus community and assist them in their transition and adjustment to college life.
Students to Begin Fall Semester Aug. 30
Students begin returning to SUNY Cortland on Thursday, Aug. 26, when the campus will open its 16 residence halls and the West Campus Apartments to approximately 100 new residential students who did not attend the summer orientation program.
Red Dragon Ride Supports Local Scholarships
Members of the campus community who are cycling enthusiasts will want to pedal to support the College’s Red Dragon Ride on the weekend of Oct. 1-3. The deadline for early registration is Thursday, Sept. 2.
Tully Educators Visit Student Teachers in Australia
A partnership between SUNY Cortland and regional school districts takes a step forward with plans for a Tully (N.Y.) Central Schools principal and elementary school teacher to spend two weeks in Queensland, Australia, visiting the same public schools where many Cortland students are honing their skills as future teachers.
New York Jets Training Schedule at SUNY Cortland
The New York Jets officially open 2010 training camp on Monday, Aug. 2, at SUNY Cortland and have announced details of their training camp schedule that feature practices open to the public in three different locations — Central New York, Long Island and New Jersey. The Jets' 2010 training camp is presented by Madden NFL ’11.
Diversity Institute Planned for July 19-21
SUNY Cortland will host the 2010 Summer Institute for Infusing Diversity into Our Teaching on Monday-Wednesday, July 19-21, on campus. Open to SUNY Cortland faculty and staff, the three-day institute will be held in Old Main, Room 209.
Distinguished Alumni to be Honored
The SUNY Cortland Alumni Association will present its highest honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award, to three graduates during Alumni Reunion Weekend.
Outstanding Alumni Volunteers Honored
Edward H. Olivari ’49 and John Reardon ’50 will received the Outstanding Alumni Volunteer Award on Saturday, July 17, during the SUNY Cortland Alumni Reunion.
Cortland Finishes 17th in Directors' Cup Standings
The SUNY Cortland men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic program finished in 17th place Directors’ Cup competition among the approximately 440 eligible NCAA Division III programs.
Sheltmire Cabin Dedication at Raquette Lake July 31
The Trapper’s Cabin at SUNY Cortland’s Camp Huntington along Raquette Lake will be officially dedicated as the Sheltmire Cabin aka Trapper’s Cabin in honor of Jack Sheltmire M ’73, who recently retired after 10 years as director of the College’s Center for Environmental and Outdoor Education.
