Ute Ritz-Deutch, History Department, had her article, “The Obscure Labors of a Forgotten Anthropologist: A Biography of Bruno Oetteking,” published in BEROSE - International Encyclopaedia of the Histories of Anthropology, Paris, 2019.

Joshua Peluso

Joshua Peluso, Systems Administration and Web Services, gave two presentations at the Fall 2011 Wizard Collaborative SUNY Conference held Nov. 15-16 in Syracuse, N.Y. His talks were titled, “Getting Everything in your Campus Portal” and “SUNY Source.” Wizard technology conferences promote SUNY-wide technological offerings for all campuses. 

Regina B. Grantham and graduate student Kelli Carsten

Regina B. Grantham, Communication Disorders and Sciences Department, along with graduate student Kelli Carsten and colleague Nikki Curtis, Pediatric Developmental Therapy, presented a poster at the American Speech and Hearing Association Convention held Nov. 20-22 in Orlando, Fla. The poster was titled “Impact of Common Core State Standards on SLP Service Delivery: Current Practices and Implications.” Also, Grantham was appointed to serve on the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA) Board of Ethics for four years. ASHA is the national, professional and credentialing association for the profession of speech-language pathology and audiology with a membership of more than 173,000 members and affiliates. 

Timothy J. Baroni

Timothy J. Baroni, Biological Sciences Department, with co-authors Keri Kluting, University of Uppsala, and Sarah Bergemann, Middle State Tennessee University, published a peer-reviewed paper titled “Toward a Stable Classification of Genera within the Entolomataceae: a Phylogenetic Re-evaluation of the Rhodocybe-Clitopilus Clade” in the journal Mycologia. Molecular evidence was used to sort out relationships among five genera and nearly 300 species. The publication was the result of Kluting’s master’s thesis at Middle State Tennessee University. Baroni served as a mentor for the project and was on Kluting’s guidance committee for the master’s degree.

Cheryl Hines

Cheryl Hines, Advisement and Transition, presented a poster titled “Supporting Non-Traditional Students in a Traditional Setting” at the annual National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) conference held in October in Phoenix, Ariz.

Charlotte Pass

Charlotte Pass, Literacy Department, had three presentations at the New York State Reading Association’s annual conference, held Oct. 28 and 29 in Syracuse, N.Y., and two presentations at the National Council of Teachers of English, held Nov. 15 to 18 in Houston, Texas.

Lindsey Darvin

Lindsey Darvin, Sport Management Department, had her article, “At colleges nationwide, esports teams dominated by men,” published in The Conversation.

Mark Dodds and Ray Cotrufo

Mark Dodds and Ray Cotrufo, Sport Management Department, recently had their paper, “The Ultimate Penalty Box: Fayetteville-Manlius is Disqualified from the State Playoffs for Playing Too Many Games,” published by the Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

Celeste McNamara

Celeste McNamara, History Department, was appointed book review editor for the Journal of Religious History, published on behalf of the Religious History Association. The Journal of Religious History is an international, double-blind, peer-reviewed journal that aims to publish high quality, impactful scholarship and research that makes original and significant contribution to the field of religious history. The scope of the journal is the history of all religions and their relationship with the human experience across all time periods; the journal explores religion and its related subjects, along with debates on comparative method and theory in religious history.

David Kilpatrick

David Kilpatrick, Psychology Department, presented a one-hour workshop at the annual conference for the New York Association of School Psychologists on Oct. 28. The workshop was titled “Not all Phonemic Awareness Tests are Created Equal.” Phonemic awareness is a very important linguistic skill that affects learning to read. The workshop was designed to assist school psychologists in determining if a student’s reading difficulties were influenced by difficulties in phonemic awareness. The conference was held Oct. 27-28 at the Turning Stone Resort in Oneida, N.Y.
