Residence Life and Housing Office
Mission Statement
The SUNY Cortland Residence Life and Housing Office offers exemplary facilities while encouraging learning, acceptance, and cooperation that engages all individuals as positive community members by providing opportunities for academic support, civic responsibility, and personal and leadership development.
Vision Statement
SUNY Cortland has a strong commitment to a quality residential experience. Residence Life and Housing is responsible for providing a safe, secure, well-maintained environment where students can learn, develop and flourish. The residence hall environment must support students as they pursue their academic program while also allowing students an environment in which to relax and socialize. The residence hall staffing pattern, which includes live-in professionals as well as student staff, has been established to facilitate this kind of balance. It is the staff's responsibility to understand the College’s expectations, to know their students, to be aware of campus resources and to develop programs which complement, support, and enhance the classroom experience.
Civility and Inclusion Statement
The Residence Life and Housing Office at SUNY Cortland is committed to providing safe, civil, and vibrant living communities in support of our academic mission. We believe that fostering sharing and inclusion of all ideas, lived experiences, and world views in the residential community can provide transformative learning experiences for our students, and serves as a vital part of learning and development. We believe that all students have the right to feel safe and supported in their residence hall regardless of differences in race, ethnicity, religion, ability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression.
